Higher Education Partnerships between the Global North and Global South

Higher education partnerships between the Global North and South are a recognized as means of developing research capacity, especially in institutions South. Due to realities individual agreements, however, not all work effectively. This article examines Norwegian Ethiopian university partnership named “The Ethiopia Network Universities Public Health (SENUPH)” case study identify key elements development effective, mutually beneficial from policy institutional perspectives. The first part this outlines different concepts aid-focused mutuality-focused partnerships. second reviews evolution Funding Programmes for Education Partnerships. third describes mission characteristics SENUPH. final analyzes implications functional, higher partnerships, learned SENUPH study. provides three how make such mutual functional: 1) importance fostering authorship among actors; 2) significance multiple phases periodic evaluation assess progress partnerships; 3) promotion knowledge skill recipients so they can promote growth cause spillover effect that has positive regional impact.
